HOW IS AN INTENTION FORMULATED?

Your intentions should be personal & sincere, unique to your individual life circumstances, & the product of an honest personal inventory. You don't need to get it perfect, you just need to be honest, simple, humble...in a word, REAL. The right intention doesn't control your journey, it frames it.

Intentions may take the form of a single word, concise statement or even a question that resonates with the depths of your being. To facilitate this, consider contemplative practices such as journalling, prayer, or meditation.

An intention may be:

[ ] An outcome you are looking for

[ ] An experience you wish to experience

[ ] Asking for insights or healing in certain areas of your life

[ ] A hope to see or develop a characteristic in yourself

Effective intentions are:

[ ] Emotionally Honest-- routed in what's authentic to you now

[ ] Open-Ended--- leaves room for the unknown

[ ] Simple & Clear-- not poetic or intellectual, but felt & embodied

[ ] Curious-- more of a question, less of a demand

[ ] Go to the Root-- not the symptoms, not the ideas, but the truth beneath the words

[ ] Use Active Verbs-- "show me..." "help me to..." "why do I...?"

Ultimately, trust in the wisdom of your inner self, & be open to the transformative journey that awaits you in Ceremony. And make the commitment to meet WHATEVER the medicine reveals with honesty, humility & self-love.

"Help me see the happiness inside of me"

"Show me the peace & acceptance I already have"

"Open my heart to connection"

"Show me the roots of my anxiety & depression"

"How do I become positive, patient & tolerant?"

"Why do I turn to _______________ to relieve my pain?"
